Ostrander Ski Hut

Tuolumne Pear Lake El Dorado Sierra Club

Located in Yosemite National Park , Ostrander Ski Hut is one of the most popular ski to huts in the Sierra. The hut was built it in 1941 by the CCC and overlooks Ostrander Lake. The lake sits at 8,500 ft and is part of a glacier carved cirque. This bowl attracts skiers looking to carve turns on fresh snow.

The stone hut sleeps 25 people in bunks with mattresses. A hutmeister lives at Ostrander during the winter, to help if needed. There are some basic amenities, including a wood stove for heat, kitchen with a gas stove for cooking, and assorted pots and pans. Water is carried from the lake and treatment is the individual visitor's responsibility.

There are three major ways to get to the hut, starting at Bridalveil Creek Campground and taking the Ghost Forest Loop, taking the Bridalveil Creek trail and joining the Horizon Ridge Trail, Horizon Ridge Trail, or the Merced Crest Trail. Make sure you choose a route within your capabilities.
