Sierra Nature

Nature and Wildlife in the Sierra Nevada

Nature and Wildlife are much of what the Sierra is about. Between the National Forest, Wilderness Areas, and the National Parks, much of the Sierra Mountains are being preserved for future generations.

Each season in the Sierra provides a unique nature experience. In the spring as the snow begins to melt it gives way to blossoming wildflowers, a truely beautiful visual experience. As summer begins wildlife is in plentiful and the weather turns pleasantly warm. In the fall the leaves begin to turn on the aspen providing a colorful backdrop to an already beautiful forest. Winter is the time when few travel into the backcountry, with the rising popularity of snowshoeing and cross-country skiing provides an opportunity to enjoy some winter time beauty.
