| Yosemite becomes an especially scenic park during the winter. The crowds are gone and the parks beauty is enhanced with a blanket of snow. Yosemite National Park offers a combination of spectacular granite filled valleys and mountains. Coyotes and other wildlife are often spotted along the nearby meadows. The park offers a multitude of recreational activities, including cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, snowplay, snowboarding, photography, and much more. |

From Sierra City in the north to Oakhurst in the south there is an abundance of nearby winter recreational activities. Each of the mother lode towns has routes into the mountains for skiing and other snowplay activities.
The Sierra foothills are rich in mining history. You can visit mines and museums, gold pan, take tours, or relax at one of the local bed and breakfast inns. |

Mammoth Mountain is known for some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the southern Sierra. Nearby June Mountain offers great snow with a more intimate environment.
There is plenty of other winter recreational activites; including cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, sledding and tubing. |
